An annual report one pager is the whole year on a single sheet: the headline result, three or four key numbers, how they moved over the years, the milestones and the plan for next year. Owners, lenders, members and staff will not read a 40-page annual report, but they will read one page, forward it and keep it. Below are the six parts every annual report One-Pager needs, a free template you can copy, and five examples for different readers.

What is an annual report one pager?
An annual report one pager is a short version of an annual report, written for people who want the result without the detail. Big companies publish one beside the full report for shareholders and the press. Small businesses, nonprofits, co-ops and teams often send only the one-pager, because it is the version people actually read.
It answers four questions: how did the year go, what are the numbers, what did we do, and what comes next?
The 6 parts of an annual report One-Pager
- The year in one sentence. "Revenue grew 18% to $6.4M, and every new store paid for itself within the year."
- Three or four key numbers, each with last year beside it or the change written as an arrow and a percentage.
- A trend over several years. Five years of revenue, members or customers in one bar chart, with this year darker.
- Milestones. Three or four things the organisation did, each with a number.
- Next year's plan, as three numbered goals.
- Who to contact: investor questions, member services, the HR team.
For a nonprofit, add who you helped and where the money came from.

5 annual report one pager examples
1. Annual report for a small company
Edit this template
A growing company's year for its owners and lenders: one sentence, three numbers, five years and a plan.
What to copy:
- The year as a headline, not a heading. "Revenue grew 18% to $6.4M" is the first thing on the page, in large type.
- Five years of revenue, so one good year sits inside a steady climb.
- Milestones with numbers in them: stores in three cities, delivery cut from 5 days to 3, online ordering at 22% of sales.

2. Annual report summary for an agency
Edit this template
A service business's year, told through clients: how many, what they bought and how many came back.
What to copy:
- Active clients month by month, from 34 in January to 51 in December. It shows growth a revenue total hides.
- One big number with its story: 64% of revenue from repeat clients, up from 57%.
- Three insights as short sentences, like "Referrals brought 6 of 10 new clients."

3. HR annual report
Edit this template
A people team's year for leadership: headcount, turnover, training, hiring and what staff say.
What to copy:
- The four numbers leadership asks about: employees, training hours, voluntary turnover and cost per hire, each with its change.
- Headcount by team over five years as stacked bars.
- Two short quotes from staff, named by first name, role and years at the company.

4. Annual summary for a co-op or member organisation
Edit this template
A co-op's year for its members, under a photo of their own fields.
What to copy:
- A photo of the members' own work at the top. It makes the report feel like theirs.
- "Paid back to members" as a headline number. It is the figure every member looks for.
- This year beside last year for each crop, so members can compare without the old report.

5. Annual summary for shareholders
Edit this template
A larger company's year for shareholders: sales by product, revenue by quarter and how many targets were met.
What to copy:
- The fastest-growing line called out on its own: electric vans, up 64%.
- Three years of sales by model in one table, with the change in the last column.
- Targets met as four rings: sales, on-time delivery, dealer satisfaction and factory uptime.

One page or the full annual report?
You usually need both, for different readers.
| Annual report One-Pager | Full annual report | |
|---|---|---|
| Reader | Owners, members, staff, customers, the press | Regulators, auditors, analysts, lenders doing due diligence |
| Length | One page | Often 20 to 100 pages |
| Contents | The result, key numbers, milestones, the plan | All of that, plus full financial statements, notes and governance |
| How it is shared | Email, print, website, social | Website download, filings |
If you already have the long report, you do not need to start from scratch. The free AI One-Pager generator reads a PDF, Word or PowerPoint file of up to 10 pages and gives it back as a designed One-Pager, with the figures pulled from your file.
General design tools like Visme and Venngage also offer report templates, most of them laid out for several pages. If you want the year on exactly one sheet, start from a template built for one.
How to write an annual report one pager in 5 steps
- Write the year in one sentence with the biggest number in it.
- Pick three or four key numbers and find last year's figure for each.
- Chart one number over three to five years.
- List three or four milestones, each with a number.
- Write next year's three goals, specific enough to check next year.
Annual report one pager mistakes
- Opening with a letter from the CEO. On one page, the letter is the first thing to cut. Put the result there instead.
- Numbers with no comparison. "$6.4M revenue" means nothing until it says "up 18%".
- Only good news. One honest line about what did not work makes the rest believable.
- No plan for next year. A report that ends with the past gets filed. One that ends with goals gets discussed.

Frequently asked questions
Can an annual report be one page?
Yes. Many companies, nonprofits and teams send a one-page annual report to owners, members and staff, and keep the full report with financial statements for regulators and lenders.
What should be in a one page annual report?
The year in one sentence, three or four key numbers with last year's figures, one trend over several years, the main milestones, next year's goals and a contact.
How do I turn my full annual report into one page?
Pick the single sentence that sums up the year, choose the three or four numbers your readers care most about, keep one chart and the top milestones, and add next year's plan. Or drop the full report into the free AI One-Pager generator.
What is the difference between an annual report and an impact report?
An annual report covers the whole organisation's year: results, money and plans. An impact report, common for nonprofits, focuses on the difference the work made: who was helped and what changed for them.
