Portfolio One‑Pager: Free Template and Examples for Freelancers
A free portfolio one-pager template for designers, developers and consultants: one project told as a story with numbers, three examples, and what clients look for first.

A portfolio one-pager shows one piece of your work on a single page: the problem the client had, what you did about it, the result in numbers and what the client said afterward. Designers, developers, writers and consultants send one after a first call, attach it to a proposal or leave it behind after a pitch. Below is a free portfolio one-pager template you can copy, three examples and the mistakes that make clients stop reading.

What goes on a portfolio one-pager
| Block | What the client wants to know | Keep it to |
|---|---|---|
| Headline | What was the project? | Client and project in one line |
| The result | Did it work? | Three numbers |
| What you did | How did you work? | Three steps with dates |
| Before and after | What changed? | Two short lists |
| What the client said | Would they hire you again? | One quote, with name and role |
| Tools | Can you work the way we do? | Three to five tools |
A full portfolio website shows range. A portfolio one-pager shows proof, one project at a time. Make one for each of your best three projects, and send the one closest to what the new client needs.

Copy this outline, or open the example below and edit it.
- Top line: your name, what you do and the year.
- Headline: Case study: [client] [project].
- The project in one sentence: what you built, for whom, and how long it took.
- The result: three numbers, such as a drop in support calls, a rating and the time it took.
- What I did: three phases with weeks, such as listen, design, ship.
- Before and after: two or three lines each.
- What the client said: one sentence, their name and their role.
- Tools: the three or four you used.

A designer's project page: three result numbers, three phases, a before and after and the client's own words.
What to copy:
- The result before the story: -41% support calls, 4.7/5 driver rating, 8 weeks to live. A client who reads nothing else still sees the outcome.
- A before and after a stranger can feel: "12 taps to log a delivery" against "3 taps". One concrete number beats a paragraph about usability.
- A quote about the result, not about you: "Drivers stopped calling the office to ask how it works." It says the work did its job.

Client case study: for bigger projects with more to show
Edit this template
A nine-month project shown as one headline number, five before-and-after measures and four moves.
- One number that changed: $2.9M direct revenue in nine months, against $340,000 before. When the result is big, give it a box of its own.
- Five measures with before and after dots: direct share, repeat rate, email revenue, margin and list buyers. It shows the result was broad, not one lucky number.
- "Figures supplied by the client and used with permission" at the bottom. It answers the question every reader has about a case study.

Rate card: the page to send with your portfolio

What the work costs and when you are free, so the client can say yes without another email.
- Fixed prices next to the day rate: $6,500 for a brand pack, $12,000 for a website. Clients like knowing the total.
- A calendar of booked days: it shows you are in demand and tells the client when you can start.
- Terms in two lines: half up front, half at launch, two rounds of changes.

How to make a portfolio one-pager in 5 steps
- Pick your three best projects, and the one closest to the client you are pitching.
- Find three numbers for it: something that went up, something that went down and how long it took. Ask the client if you do not have them.
- Write what you did in three phases, each with its weeks.
- Ask the client for one sentence you can quote, and their permission to use the figures.
- Add your tools and a way to reach you, then save it as a PDF.

Portfolio one-pager mistakes
- No numbers. "Improved the user experience" could mean anything. "12 taps down to 3" means something.
- Five projects squeezed onto one page. That is a list, not proof. One project per page.
- The process first and the result last. Clients read top to bottom and stop early. Lead with the result.
- A quote that praises you instead of the work. "Great to work with" is nice. "Drivers stopped calling the office" is proof.
- No way to hire you. End with your website or a call to book.

Frequently asked questions
What is a portfolio one-pager?
A one-page summary of a single project from your portfolio, showing the problem, what you did, the result and what the client said. Freelancers and agencies send it alongside a proposal or after a first call.
What should a one-page portfolio include?
Your name and what you do, the project and client, three result numbers, the steps you took, a before and after, a client quote and the tools you used.
Is a portfolio one-pager the same as a case study?
It is a short case study. A full case study can run several pages on a website. The portfolio one-pager is the version a busy client reads in two minutes. See our guide to case study templates for longer formats.
Should I put prices on my portfolio one-pager?
Keep prices on a separate rate card and send both. The portfolio page proves you can do the work, and the rate card makes it easy to say yes.
