Course material on one page

Students lose slide decks and keep handouts. One page holds the shape of the module, the terms they have to know and what is due, in something they can pin above a desk.

  • Every page read, not the first ten
  • Charts drawn from the figures in your own file
  • Your brand, and a print-ready PDF at the end

Terms You Have to Know

Real rate
The interest rate once inflation is taken out. It is what borrowing actually costs.
Crowding out
Government borrowing lifting rates far enough to reduce private investment.
Sticky prices
Prices that do not move quickly when demand does, which is why policy works at all.
The trilemma
Fix your exchange rate, allow free capital flows, or set your own rates. Never all three.
Automatic stabiliser
Spending that rises in a downturn with nobody deciding, such as unemployment benefit.
Where to Go When You Are Stuck
QI have missed a seminar.
Watch the recording, then bring the exercise to office hours. Two absences are fine, four are not.
QCan I use a different textbook?
Yes. The set text is one route through the same material, and every seminar sheet stands alone.
QThe maths is beyond me.
Come to the Thursday support hour in Ashby 2.03. It runs from week two and assumes nothing.
QWhen do marks come back?
Fifteen working days after each deadline, with written feedback on the essay and a mark on the portal.

What it pulls out of a course material

Read out of the file you upload. Nothing is assumed and nothing is filled in.

  • What the module covers, in order
  • The terms they have to know
  • The dates, and what is due on each
  • Where to go when they are stuck

Every one made the same way, with nothing touched up for the website.

Questions about course material

The two things people ask before they hand over a document.

Can I print it for a class?
Yes. The PDF is print ready at A4 or US Letter, and there is no watermark on a paid page.
Does it work from a reading list or a handbook?
Yes. Paste the list or upload the handbook and the page comes back organised rather than retyped.
